Carlee spent years designing her ideal hospital workflow and SOPs through creation of handbooks and training documents - all before she actually ever purchased a vet clinic. Finding the tasks of veterinary clinic purchase & management daunting, she combed through every book and resource she could find on the subject and spent hundreds of hours in the research of efficiency and leadership.
Through that process, her own practice acquisition, onboarding new team members, leading a 3-doctor mixed animal veterinary hospital, she learned quickly what worked... and what didn't. Adaptability & efficiency became her passion as a practice owner not only to drive clinic profits but also manage a teams' satisfaction and morale. When the day-to-day functions of a hospital flow easily, teams are able to perform at their highest level.
She realized that through the creation of unique and detailed SOPs - her hospital was thriving - where others were creating toxic work environments, low staff morale, high staff turnover, and high rates of burnout and compassion fatigue... her staff was the total opposite. They functioned as a cohesive and strong team and were excited about their careers again.
After talking with other business owners on their entrepreneur journey, Carlee realized she had created something special and turned her interest in mentoring other veterinarians into a practical solution. She created customizable templates of all her handbooks and administrative documents so that other veterinarians struggling with practice management or associate vets interested in business ownership had a blueprint for success that would save them time and money. Her goal in mind - teach other vets how to buy vet practices, run them well, find joy in their careers again AND compete with the private equity takeover of the vet industry.
She created these resources to fast-track veterinary practice owners into joyful and fulfilling careers by making staff delegation, training, and management a low-stress task, allowing DVMs to focus on the things that matter most - people & their pets.
Course Modules
The Ownership Escape Plan - is Veterinary Practice Rising's first passion project. A fully comprehensive 19 lesson (5 module) self-paced online course with a client workbook that transforms burned out associate veterinarians into prepared, confident new business owners.
This course teaches practicing veterinarians how to obtain a business loan, negotiate through a practice acquisition, understand benchmarks and financial goals. It also teaches practical tools and strategies for confidently directing and managing employees.
With real-life advice and recommendations, Carlee takes DVMs through the step-to-step process of venturing into veterinary clinic ownership and creating the private practice of their dreams.
